A Review of the Boss ME-70 Multi-Effects Pedalboard
by R. S. Rasnick on Jan.05, 2010, under Music
For years I have used a Boss ME-50 as a supplemental multi-effects pedalboard to my main effects system. I have a huge pedalboard that contains just about every effect I could possibly want, but therein lies the problem. For quick gigs, practices, or other occasions where I need to be mobile, a 50 pound pedalboard can be quite a hassle. The ME-50 has been a godsend in saving me both time and trouble. Just when I though it couldn’t get any better, Boss introduced the ME-70. Suffice it to say, it’s gotten better…a lot better.
Though it’s not the most important change, I have to say that the ME-70 is far more attractive on the outside than its predecessor. The classy black exterior of the ME-70 just plain looks more polished and professional. This new board simply looks more like a pro pedalboard than the ME-50. The aesthetic difference is a minor but welcome change.
Though looks are cool, it’s the sounds that really matter. Fortunately, the ME-70 is pretty hip in that department as well. What you get with the new ME-70 are the sounds from over 40 different Boss effects pedals. These are the identical sounds that you’ve heard and loved for years. The best modulation, delay, distortion, and overdrive sounds from Boss are under the hood, and they sound great!
But the ME-70 isn’t just a collection of Boss pedals in a box. It’s got a few new tricks up its sleeve. I’ve never been crazy about multi-effects boards because they also seemed to include a preamp section that I never used since I like the sound of my own amp. Well, at a gig one night my amp crapped out on me, and I had to plug my pedalboard directly into the P.A. system. What a nightmare! It sounded terrible. If only I had a ME-70 at the time! The ME-70 has a built in COSM preamp that you can use if you don’t have or can’t use your own amplifier. Plus it’s easily bypassed if you don’t need it. But if you’re ever in the same kind of situation I was in, you would really be thankful for a pedalboard like the ME-70. Depending on the gig, it might be the only thing you take besides your guitar.
Another welcome addition to the Boss ME-7o is the onboard looper. Boss makes great looping pedals, and if you’ve ever used a Boss Loop Station, you’ll recognize the same Boss quality here as well. The looper gives you up to 38 seconds of loop time, which is exceptional for a non-dedicated looper.
Another significant change in the ME-70 is the addition of a dedicated compression section, which was a serious deficiency in the ME-50. Compression can be an integral part of a professional guitar sound, and the ME-50 had a weak compressor at best. Thankfully, the Boss design engineers understood the value of included a dedicated compressor to the ME-70, a very welcome addition.
Fortunately, all the wonderful features of the ME-50 are still present in the ME-70. You still have the noise suppression and adjustable reverb in addition to the rocker pedal that controls volume, wah, and pitch-shifting effects.
So, if you’re looking for a world-class multi-effects pedal that won’t break the bank, you should definitely check out the Boss ME-70, a worthy successor to the ME-50.

by Phil Guye on Jan.03, 2010, under Music
One of the benefits of videos is that many folk enjoy interacting with them. You can make them fun, straightforward to watch, and even interactive. This makes it possible to drive more folks to find and watch them which is one method of increasing your target audience traffic. It is important that you make them presentable too. One smart idea is using a Green screen LA. This is a video making technique which permits you to mix two screens or frames together.
One of the qualities of Green screen LA is that it makes characters and pictures that it creates clear and easy to see. It is simply a breeze to see characters shown on this medium versus a video made employing a web based program. As a result, you don’t have to fret when making a business show to a large number of people. This medium permits all kind of characters to be shown properly without any kind of interference.
One quality to keep a look out for when creating videos using Green Screen LA technology is named the afterglow effect. This is more common when scrolling up and down on the green screen, which tends to leave a glow, which is affecting the standard of characters on display. When selecting a green screen you must make sure you don’t encounter this issue as to be certain that your display is simply understandable. A smart idea to address the problem of afterglow is to ask somebody well informed in the field to counsel you a screen guaranteed to give you the least issues.
You must also look out for a Green screen LA that have high absorbance. A green screen with an amount of high absorbance will make it a lot easier for you to work with. Since you’ll need to use lots of lighting, an absorbent material allows the green screen to reduce the issue of glow effects, making it difficult for you to display your photographs in the right way. The reason is that it has effects on how clear characters and photographs appear on the screen thus giving you poor output. Good quality green screens should give you very little reflectance in the slightest. Make sure your screen has as little afterglow effect as feasible. This guarantees you clear characters when making final displays.
One of the common uses of a Green screen LA is in television and film productions such as weather reports and films that need in depth, grand photographs. The green screen allows film makers to make illusions, battlegrounds, and fantastical creatures that would otherwise be impossible to portray on the big screen. The sort of work you would like to use on your green screen also determines the quality of green screen you should pick. In the case of a TV display, the dimensions of the green screen also matters. The explanation is that proximity and distance from the screen affects overall image display. As you combine the 2 frames to be employed in the display of photographs or characters it’s important to check out how even they are. This might affect lighting and create some kind of reflection which ends up in poor pictures.

They’re well privy to the fact that there’s every probability a shoot might not turn out the predicted way, if the lighting is not looked after, as it should.
for instance, if the director wants to have a complete green screen, which covers three walls in a room, he can have to consider corresponding lighting. Anyway, it is important for the technical crew and the director to work in perfect tandem with the technical people at Green screen LA to get the desired effects in the shoot. Stupidly Easy Guitar Lessons
by Johnny Torzoni on Dec.25, 2009, under Music
Guitar and music in general is personally one of the most enjoyable hobbies you can pick up. Music is one of the few mediums that can totally cross language and cultural barriers. It’s extremely inspiring when you blast out a power chord through an amplifier at a rocking volume. Or strumming your acoustic at a party and having the whole room singing along with you. Actually being able to play songs and even compose your own is an inexpressible feeling. So here are some easy guitar lessons to get you going.
So a quick message to all the beginners out there. This does take time and patience, do not give up. I will never forget grabbing my first guitar for the first time knowing I would be jamming to my favorite CDs immediately. Boy was I mistaken. My fingers couldn’t even get one note right and a chord, not even a chance. I didn’t quit, I adjusted my goals and stuck to it.
Your fingers are most likely confused and in pain and it maybe just plain uncomfortable when you first pick up the guitar. Elasticity and agility are keys here and you do this through exercising those fingers. There is no trickery here, repetition is the only way to reach your objective. I know you’ve heard it before, practice makes perfect. When I was just beginning I liked to sit in front of the Tube and just repeat exercises kind of unconsciously just to get my fingers strong.
Getting both hands to play nicely as one is also going to take some time so don’t get dispirited. At first your fingers tips will hurt, practice through that pain for as long as you can, don’t just take a breather right away . Before you know it the calluses on your finger will develop and you will be practicing for hours. The worst part of starting with the guitar is this just starting out phase. Please just stick with it and battle through it, the rewards will be immeasurable.
Here are some pointers for your strumming hand. This is your rhythm hand and our plucking or picking hand. Slow and steady is vital here. Practice with your pick, alternating between down strokes and up strokes. Start slow and play along as you tap your foot to keep in time. Down stroke, up stroke, down stroke, etc. Slow and steady while you alternate. Increase speed as you go. Play this on 1 string then move on to 2 strings, then 3 strings and so on as if you were practicing chords. When starting out or practicing in front of the Tube you can mute the strings with your other hand to really pay attention to the rhythm.
Moving on to the fretting hand. Your fretting hand picks the notes that you want your strumming hand to play. This is the hand that also may start to hurt and the hand that doesn’t seem to know what it is doing when first starting out. No getting around this, just take it slow and steady with patience. It is key here to get all four fingers comfortable and in sync with each other. Don’t leave your pinkie out because it is harder to get going. When practicing guitar if you find something difficult then you need to practice it more.
So here is the nitty gritty exercise to get you smoking on that fret board. On fret one of your low E string press down strongly with your index finger. While still pressing use your middle finger on fret 2. While holding both down press your ring finger on fret 3. And of course the pinkie on fret four . As you are doing this you should be picking, always alternating, down and up, down and up. You then simply back up this process by lifting your pinkie first, then ring, etc So press 1, 2, 3, 4 and then reverse 4,3,2,1 while alternating your picking down and up.
This exercise should be practiced until you can’t stand it anymore, slow and accurate. Then as it gets simpler build up your speed. Practice this on all strings, all over the fretboard. This will unlock your fingers and really get them going. Start slow and build up. Guitar is my obsession and hopefully this can help you on your way. It honestly is an amazing instrument. Videos and photos will really help burn these concepts in your brain. Check out these easy guitar lessons.
